- Pictures of objects with corresponding Jolly Phonics sound (e.g. cat for "c" sound)
- Flashcards with Jolly Phonics words (e.g. "cat," "dog," "sun")
- Treasure box filled with small prizes (e.g. stickers, small toys)
Procedure
- Introduce Jolly Phonics as a fun way to learn English sounds and words.
- Distribute pictures of objects with corresponding Jolly Phonics sound to each student.
- Explain that students will be going on a "Phonics Scavenger Hunt" to find different objects around the classroom that have the same sound as their picture.
- Arrange the classroom with different objects that correspond to the Jolly Phonics sounds.
- Encourage students to work in pairs or groups to find their object and practice saying the sound.
- Once all objects have been found, bring the class together and review each sound and object.
- Use flashcards with Jolly Phonics words to reinforce the sounds and encourage students to practice reading and spelling the words.
- As a reward, allow each student to choose a prize from the treasure box.
