To engage students in the study of biography and enhance their reading skills by taking them on a journey through a famous person's life.

  1. Begin by displaying the picture of the famous person on the board and asking students if they recognize who it is.
  2. Once students have made guesses, reveal the name of the person and explain that they will be learning about their life today.
  3. Ask students what they already know about biographies and explain that they will be learning to read and write biographies themselves throughout the year.

  1. Distribute an example of a biography text to the students and ask them to read it silently.
  2. After a few minutes, ask students to share with their classmates what they learned about the person's life and what they found interesting.
  3. Write down important aspects of the person's life on chart paper, using sticky notes.
  4. Using the information gathered, guide students in creating a timeline of events from the person's life, using blank paper and pencils.
  5. Finally, ask students to use the timeline to create a brief oral presentation of the famous person's life, highlighting the key events and achievements.

In order to assess student's understanding of the lesson, review and listen to their oral presentations, ensuring that they include important aspects of the person's life. Additionally, have students reflect on their own learning and understanding of biographies by writing a brief response about what they learned during the activity.
