Objectives

Introduction (5 minutes)
- Begin the lesson with a brief discussion on what adverbs are.
- Ask students to share examples of adverbs they already know.
- Introduce the term "adverbial," explaining that it refers to a word or group of words that modifies a verb, an adjective, or another adverb.
Direct Instruction (10 minutes)
1. Definition of Adverbials
- Explain that adverbials can describe how, when, where, why, and to what extent something is done.
2. Types of Adverbials

Ask students to work in pairs to add appropriate adverbials to each sentence based on the type specified in brackets.

Group Activity (5 minutes)
- Divide students into small groups and assign each group a type of adverbial.

- Recap the lesson by reviewing the definition of adverbials and the types discussed.
- Ask students to share their favorite example from the group activity.
- Assign homework: Write a short paragraph (5-7 sentences) using at least five different adverbials and label them by type.
