- 5 identical objects (e.g. blocks, balls, stuffed animals)
- Container to hold the objects
- Picture cards or visual aids to support language acquisition
- Whiteboard or chalkboard
- Markers or chalk
- Pencils

Objectives
- Students will be able to identify 2 out of 5 identical objects.
- Students will be able to use descriptive language to communicate about the objects.
- Students will be able to improve their fine motor skills by circling the correct objects on worksheets.
Procedure
- Begin by introducing the 5 identical objects and discussing their characteristics. Use descriptive language to talk about the size, shape, color, and texture of the objects, and encourage students to use these words as well.
- Mix up the objects in the container and demonstrate how to choose 2 objects at random.
- Show the students pictures of the 5 objects and ask them to identify which objects were chosen.
- Repeat the process with different 2-object combinations until students are comfortable with the activity.
- Provide worksheets for students to practice circling the correct objects. Encourage them to use descriptive language as they complete the worksheets.
- Discuss the activity as a group and ask students to describe their thought process as they identified the objects. Encourage them to use complete sentences and descriptive language.
- Review the objectives of the lesson and ask students if they feel they achieved them.
Assessment
Observation during the activity and completion of worksheets will serve as informal assessment for this lesson.
Accommodations and Modifications
Visual aids and picture cards can be used to support language acquisition and comprehension. Worksheets can be modified to include more or fewer choices depending on the needs of individual students. Students who struggle with fine motor skills can be provided with larger worksheets or alternative writing tools.
