Objective: In this lesson, we will learn the Spanish names for various body parts.
Materials:
Warm-Up (5 minutes):
We will start with a fun song to get us in the mood. The song is called "Cabeza, Hombros, Rodillas, Pies" and it helps us learn some of the body parts in Spanish. We will listen to the song and sing along while we point to the corresponding body parts.
Introduction (10 minutes):
Let's start by discussing why it is important to learn the names of body parts in Spanish. We will talk about situations where it might be useful, such as going to the doctor or describing how we feel.
Next, we will introduce the vocabulary words for the body parts we will be learning today. We will use flashcards with pictures to help us remember the words.
Body (20 minutes):
We will play a game called "Memory Match" to practice the new vocabulary words. We will lay out the flashcards face down on the table and take turns flipping over two cards at a time. If the cards match (e.g. the picture of the eye and the word "ojo"), we get to keep the cards. If the cards do not match, we have to flip them back over and try again later.
After we have played the game a few times, we will introduce the blank flashcards and markers. We will challenge the students to draw a picture of a body part and write its Spanish name on the card. This helps us practice our writing skills and gives us something to study for next time.
Closure (5 minutes):
We will finish the lesson by singing the "Cabeza, Hombros, Rodillas, Pies" song one more time. As we sing, we will touch each body part and say its name in Spanish. We will remind ourselves why it is important to know these words and encourage the students to practice at home with their families.
