Welcome, Year/Grade 11 students, to the exciting world of American history. In this course, we will explore important events, people, and movements that have shaped the United States as it is today. Our first topic is the Gilded Age, a period in American history marked by rapid economic growth, industrialization, and political corruption.

Warm-up activity

To kick off our lesson, let's engage in a quick activity. In groups of three, discuss the following questions:

  1. What do you know about the Gilded Age?
  2. What do you think are some of the most important events that happened during this period?
  3. How do you think the Gilded Age impacted American society at the time, and today?

After each group has had a chance to discuss, we will come together and share our responses.
