We'll explore the benefits of stream-of-consciousness writing and how it can help you access your deepest thoughts and emotions.
Nature writing is a genre that focuses on the natural world and our relationship with it. In this unit, we'll explore different styles of nature writing, including:
We'll read and analyze personal essays about nature written by well-known authors.
We'll explore nature poetry and learn how to engage with nature through poetic language and imagery.
We'll look at environmental journalism and explore how the media can influence our understanding of environmental issues.
At the end of the course, students will create their own piece of nature writing. They may choose to incorporate techniques learned in any of the units but should demonstrate an understanding of the unique characteristics of nature writing as a genre.
By the end of the course, students will have developed a writer's mindset, improved their journaling skills and learned about different genres of nature writing. The final project will provide an opportunity for students to integrate what they have learned and create their own piece of nature writing.
