The Number Rocket

Step 1: Launching Our Rocket

To begin our adventure, let’s create our very own Number Rocket!

  1. Draw the Rocket: On the large piece of paper, draw a big rocket. You can decorate it with stars, planets, and anything else that makes it exciting!

  2. Adding Numbers: Along the side of the rocket, we will place our numbers! Starting at the bottom, we will start with 1 and go all the way up to 20. Can you help me write the numbers? Let’s count together!

Step 2: Rocket Countdown

Now, let’s get ready for our countdown blast-off!

  1. Stand in a circle and count down from 10 to 1.
  2. When we reach 1, let’s all jump up and shout, “Blast off!”
  3. As we count, let’s act out the numbers. For example, when we say 3, we can hop three times!

Exploring Numbers

Step 3: Number Hunt

After our big blast-off, let’s go on a Number Hunt around our classroom!

  1. Hide Number Cards: Before the class, scatter number cards from 1 to 20 around the room.
  2. Hunting Time: Let’s work in pairs to find the numbers together. Each time you find a number, say it out loud and we’ll all help you keep count!
