• A large paper or a cardboard cut-out of a garden

Introduction (5 minutes):

Teacher: "Good morning, everyone! Are you ready for an exciting day in our classroom?"

Wait for responses and engage with the students warmly.

Teacher: "Today, we are going to explore a Magical Garden of Numbers! In this garden, we have all kinds of lovely flowers, buzzing butterflies, and friendly animals! But guess what? They need our help to add up and grow bigger!"

Show a colourful garden picture to the class.

Story Time:

Teacher: "Once upon a time in the Magical Garden, there lived 3 bright yellow flowers and 2 lovely red flowers. Can anyone tell me how many flowers are there in total?"

Encourage students to respond and guess as a group.

Teacher: "That’s right! We can find out by adding! Let’s use our fingers to count."

Activity:

1. Finger Counting:

   • Let’s hold up 3 fingers for the yellow flowers and 2 fingers for the red flowers.
   • Teacher: "Now, let's count all the fingers together! 1, 2, 3…"

2. Use of Blocks:

   • "Now, I have some counting blocks here. Let's use them to show the flowers in our magical garden. Who wants to help me build the flowers?"
