Lesson Outline
Introduction (5 minutes)

Read-Aloud (10 minutes)
- Read "The Three Little Pigs" aloud to the class. Use expressive voices for different characters to engage students.
- While reading, pause to ask questions about the story elements:
- "Who are the main characters?"
- "Where does the story take place?"
- "What happens first, next, and last?"
Guided Practice (10 minutes)
- After the read-aloud, divide students into small groups.
- Distribute a retelling graphic organizer to each group.
- Instruct students to work together to fill in the organizer with:

- Setting
- Main events (beginning, middle, end)
- After 5-7 minutes, invite each group to share their graphic organizer with the class.
Independent Practice (5 minutes)
- Distribute sticky notes to each student.
- Ask students to write one thing they learned about storytelling or one of their favorite parts from "The Three Little Pigs."
- Collect the sticky notes and discuss a few responses.
