Welcome to Your Math Adventure!

🌟 Introduction to Number and Algebra 🌟

Kia ora, tamariki! Today, we are going on a math adventure! Are you ready to explore numbers and patterns?

🎈 A Magical Mystery Box 🎈

To start our lesson, I have a special Magic Mystery Box! Inside this box, there are some interesting objects. Each object has a special number tied to it. For example, a toy car might be numbered 1, while a teddy bear could be numbered 2!

🎭 Activity: Guess What's Inside!

  1. Guessing Game:

    • I will give you a hint about one object in the box.
    • For example, “This object can be blue, and you can cuddle it!”
    • Based on the hint, can you call out the number of objects you think are in the box?
  2. Number Match:

    • After the guessing game, we will take turns pulling an object out of the box.
    • When you pull out an object, tell the class what number you think it represents!
    • If you think a toy is 3, draw it on your whiteboard while we talk about why it matches that number.

🎨 Let's Create Patterns!

  1. Pattern Play:
    • Using your whiteboards, let's create our own number patterns based on the objects we found! For example, if we have a number 1 toy car, a number 2 teddy bear, we could create a pattern like this: 1, 2, 1, 2.
    • Share your patterns with a partner and see if you can continue each other’s!

🧑‍🏫 Learning Goals

By the end of this lesson, we will understand:
