Welcome, Year 7! Today, we’re diving into the imaginative world of creative writing. Before we embark on our journey of words, let’s spark our creativity with a fun and engaging activity.
To ignite your imagination and get you excited about creating your own stories.
Mystery Box Reveal: As you enter the classroom, you will notice a box at the front. Inside this box are various objects that are seemingly unrelated.
Group Exploration: You'll be divided into small groups. Each group will take turns picking one object from the mystery box. As you unveil your object, share your initial thoughts with your group. What do you think it is? What story could it tell?
Creative Storytelling: Once everyone has shared their ideas, each group will choose one object to inspire their creative writing. Use this object as a pivotal element in your story. It could be the main character, a magical item, or a clue in a mystery.
Brainstorming: Spend a few minutes in your groups brainstorming possible plot lines, characters, and settings influenced by the chosen object.
Writing Time: Now it’s time to write! You will have 30 minutes to create a short story. Remember to make it exciting – use descriptive language, develop your characters, and build tension.
After your writing time, we will gather as a class to share our stories. By drawing inspiration from something unexpected, we learn that creativity often begins with the simplest things.
Get ready to unleash your imagination, and let’s see what adventures await us today!
