Objective: Today, we're going to explore the concept of change and how we can manage it positively in our lives. Change can be challenging, but it can also be exciting and full of opportunities!
Gather Around!
First, let’s form a circle in the classroom.
Pass Around the Change Tokens!
I have a small, round object (you can use a soft ball or a beanbag) which will be our ‘Change Token’. When your turn comes, you will share one change you’ve experienced recently. It could be a change at home, school, or even what happens in nature around us.
Time Limits
You’ll have 30 seconds to share your story. If you finish speaking before time’s up, you can say something you learned from that experience!
Materials Needed:
Setting the Scene
Let’s imagine that this string represents a journey through change. The start of the string is where we feel comfortable (green), and the end of the string is where we’re uncertain due to change (red).
Your Position
I want you to hold a card that represents how you feel about a recent change. If you feel it was easy and exciting, stand at the green end. If it was very difficult and you felt overwhelmed, stand at the red end.
Group Reflection
Once we've placed ourselves, let’s talk about why we chose that spot and how we can support each other in embracing change.
As we move through today’s lesson, remember that managing change can help us grow and learn. It may not always be easy, but with the right mindset and support, we can embrace it like a grand adventure!
Let's take our experiences with change and turn them into our strengths today! Who’s excited to start?
