To engage Year 1 students in identifying and describing shapes in their environment.
Good morning, little explorers! Today, we are going on a Shape Safari Adventure! Our furry friend, Leo the Lion, is a bit lost in the jungle. He needs our help to find his way home by spotting different shapes!
Let’s start by having a look at our jungle map.
What shapes do you see in our jungle scene? Can anyone spot a circle, square, or triangle?
Let the students point out the shapes they can see in the picture.
Now, let’s help Leo the Lion by going on a shape hunt. I’ll pass around some lovely shape cutouts. As I name a shape, I want you to hold it up high and make a sound like a lion! Roar if you have a circle, growl for a square, and so on!
Are you ready? Let’s begin our shape safari together!
As we journey deeper into the jungle, we’ll discover how many shapes we can find. Let’s gear up our math minds and jump into our exciting Shape Safari Adventure!
This engaging introduction not only captures the students' attention but also sets the foundation for the exploration of shapes in a fun, interactive way! Let’s embark on this exciting journey together!
