Lesson Outline
1. Introduction (5 minutes)
- Greet the class in Italian: "Buongiorno a tutti!"
- Introduce the topic of sports:
- "Oggi parleremo di sport."
- Ask students about their favourite sports in English to activate prior knowledge.
2. Vocabulary Introduction (10 minutes)
- Present flashcards of different sports (e.g., calcio, basket, tennis, nuoto) and their images.
- As each card is shown, pronounce the word clearly and encourage students to repeat:
- Calcio (Football)
- Basket (Basketball)
- Tennis (Tennis)
- Nuoto (Swimming)
- Write the new vocabulary on the whiteboard for reference.
3. Listening Activity (5 minutes)
- Play audio clips of native Italian speakers discussing their favourite sports.
- Have students listen and identify the sport being discussed.
- After playback, ask students to name the sports they heard:
- "Quale sport hai sentito?"
4. Speaking Activity (5 minutes)
- Pair students and give them a prompt to discuss with their partner:
- "Qual è il tuo sport preferito? Perché?"
- During the activity, circulate around the classroom to assist and listen to their conversations.
