Exploring Old and New Things

Introduction

G'day, students! Today, we are going to jump into a time machine and explore the amazing world of old and new things! We’ll learn about how things have changed over time and discover why those changes are really exciting.

Activity: Mystery Box

To start our adventure, I have a Mystery Box! Inside this box, there are some objects that show us both old and new things. I will pull out each object one by one, and I want you to use your imagination and knowledge to guess if it's an old item or a new one.

Here’s How It Works:

  1. Listening and Looking: When I pull out an object, listen carefully for clues about where it might have come from and what it was used for.
  2. Guessing Time: After I give you some hints, I want you to raise your hand and share your guess: “Is it old or new?”
  3. Discussion: Once everyone has had a turn to guess, I will reveal the answer and tell you a little story about each object. This will help us understand how people lived in the past compared to today!

Conclusion

After we’ve looked at all the objects, we’ll discuss what we’ve learned. Are old things more fun than new things? Are there some new things that remind us of old things? Let’s use our imaginations and become time explorers!

Get ready, Year 1! Let’s discover the exciting stories behind old and new things together!
