Welcome to our magical adventure in learning about Time! Today, we're going to embark on a journey that will help us understand the different parts of the day. Are you ready? Let's turn on our imagination and step into the world of clocks and schedules!
To begin our lesson, gather the little ones in a circle and introduce them to our special friend, Tick Tock the Clock. You can make a simple clock using a paper plate and some colourful markers. Draw numbers from 1 to 12 around the plate and create "hands" with two different coloured straws or paper.
Once upon a time, in a land not so far away, lived a little clock named Tick Tock. He had a big job—keeping track of time! Tick Tock was very proud because he helped everyone know when it was time to wake up, play, eat, and sleep.
After sharing the story, ask the children to help you act out different times of the day. For example:
Now that we've met Tick Tock, let's learn how the clock tells time! Invite the children to come up and interact with the clock you've created.
Gather the children back into a circle and ask them a few questions:
Encourage them to share their thoughts and relate it to their daily routines. This will help solidify their understanding of time in a playful and engaging way.
Wrap up the lesson by reminding your little learners how magical time can be, just like Tick Tock the Clock! Let them know that time helps us organize our day and make the most of our adventures. And who knows? Maybe they’ll find their own Tick Tock spirit in everyday moments!
To keep the fun going, you could create a Time Diary where children can draw pictures of their favourite times of the day and share them during the next class.
Happy learning, young mathematicians!
