Objective: To spark excitement about reading and engage students in their lesson.
Gather the students in a cozy circle on the carpet and display a large, beautifully illustrated book.
“Good morning, my amazing readers! Today, we are going on a magical adventure through the world of stories! But first, let me introduce you to The Magic Book.”
Hold up the book high, letting the illustrations catch their eyes.
“This book isn’t just any book; it is a magical one! Legend says that if we open it together, we’ll be transported into different stories where we might meet wizards, animals, and even dinosaurs! But first, we must unlock its magic.”
Take out a large, whimsical key (this can be a cardboard cut-out) and hold it up.
“Look at this special key! It has a secret power to unlock the magic of reading. To use it, we need to chant a special phrase together.”
“Open, open, dear book of delight, take us on a journey, full of joy and light!”
Repeat the chant three times together, getting louder and more excited with each repetition.
“Are we ready to use our magic key?”
As the students chant for the last time, slowly open the book to reveal the first page. Let their imaginations flow as you read the first few lines of a captivating story.
“This story tells us about a brave little dragon who wants to learn how to read! Who can guess what adventures he will go on? Let’s find out!”
Ask the students, “What do you think might happen next? Does anyone want to share their favorite story or character?”
This engaging introduction will capture the children's attention and set a whimsical tone for the reading lesson, fostering a love for stories and encouraging participation and imagination.
Let's embark on our magical journey together! 📚✨
