Overview
In this engaging activity, students will create a visual collage representing their own family members while learning key Italian vocabulary. This will not only help them remember the words but also make the lesson more relatable and enjoyable.
Materials Needed
- Magazines or printed images of various family members (father, mother, brother, sister, etc.)
- Scissors
- Glue sticks
- A3 paper or poster boards
- Markers or coloured pencils
- Vocabulary lists (in both Italian and English)
Steps

Introduction (5 minutes)
- Begin by greeting the students in Italian: "Buongiorno a tutti!"
- Briefly introduce the lesson topic: "Oggi parleremo delle famiglie in italiano" (Today we will talk about families in Italian).

Vocabulary Presentation (10 minutes)
- Display a list of Family-related vocabulary on the board:
- Madre - Mother
- Padre - Father
- Fratello - Brother
- Sorella - Sister
- Famiglia - Family
- Pronounce each word clearly and have students repeat it after you for reinforcement.

Collage Creation (20 minutes)
- Explain to the students that they will create a collage representing their own family.
- Encourage them to think about who is in their family and to find images that represent each member.
- As they cut and paste, they can label each member with the corresponding Italian vocabulary word.
- Allow them to be as creative as they want; they can draw their family members or write descriptions.
