Hello Class 1! 🌟 Today we are going to combine something super fun—our summer holidays— with a little bit of maths magic! Are you excited? I know I am!
We’ll start our lesson by reminiscing about our wonderful summer break and then we’ll explore how we can use those memories to practice our maths skills.
First, I want you to think about your summer holidays. What was the best thing you did? Did you go to the beach, visit a park, or perhaps have a fun picnic? Take a moment to think about your favourite memories.
Next, pick one fun memory and draw a picture of it! Maybe it’s you building a sandcastle or picking apples. Be as colourful and creative as you can! 🎨
Now comes the exciting part! Once you’ve finished your drawing, we will use our pictures to do some maths. Here’s how:
Count: Count the number of things in your picture. For example, if you drew a beach scene, how many seashells are in your drawing?
Add: If you had friends with you, how many were there? Write down the total number of people in your drawing (you + your friends).
Subtraction Fun: If you brought home 10 seashells but lost 2 on the way, how many do you have left?
After you've written down your numbers, we’ll gather in small groups to share our drawings and solve each other's maths problems!
Alright, Class 1! Are you ready to turn your summer fun into some maths magic? Let’s get started on our drawings and see how many maths stories we can create from our holidays! Remember, maths is everywhere, even in the stories we tell! 📚✏️
Let’s have some fun!
