Let’s start our lesson with a fun story! I’m going to read you an enchanting tale from Elmer by David McKee. Listen carefully as we follow Elmer on his journey through the jungle.

“Elmer was different. He wasn’t like the other elephants. He was a patchwork elephant, made up of lots of bright colours. He brought joy and laughter wherever he went!”

Creative Activity: Make Your Own Patchwork Elephant

Now that we’ve met Elmer, it’s time to become artists! We are going to create our own patchwork elephants using colourful papers and fabrics.

Steps to Create Your Patchwork Elephant:

1. Draw an outline of an elephant on a piece of paper. You can make it big or small, however you like!
2. Choose your favourite colours and patterns from the papers and fabrics available.
3. Cut the papers into different shapes (squares, rectangles, or triangles).
4. Glue the pieces onto your elephant outline to create a lovely patchwork design.
