Hello, Class!
Today, we are going to embark on a magical journey into the past to learn about American Indians! But before we begin, let’s get our imaginations ready.
Start by sitting in a circle. In the center, place a variety of animal pictures—this can include a bear, eagle, wolf, turtle, and deer.
I want each of you to think about an animal that you feel connected to. What animal do you love? Which one do you think represents you? Let’s take a few moments to look at these pictures and think about our choices.
Once you've chosen your spirit animal, raise your hand to share with the class. Tell us:
Now, I want you to take some paper and crayons from the supply table. Draw your chosen spirit animal. Use colors that you feel represent the animal’s power and spirit!
In many Native American cultures, animals are believed to have special meanings and powers. They are considered to be guides and protectors, just like how we have our friends and family. This will help us connect to the topic of American Indians in a fun and exciting way!
Once you finish your drawings, we will hang them up for our “American Indian Spirit Animal Gallery.” This will remind us of the beautiful connections we share with the nature and animals around us as we dive deeper into the fascinating history of American Indians.
Let’s begin our adventure! Are you ready? 🌍✨
