Teacher's Script:
“Good morning, everyone! Today, we are going on a special adventure into the world of words! But first, I have a surprise for you!”
(Reveal a decorated box, brightly coloured and adorned with stickers.)
“What do you think is inside this box? Let's take a look together!”
Open the Box
Open the box slowly and take out a mystery item (e.g., a soft toy, a bouncy ball, or a colourful scarf). Hold it up for the children to see.
Descriptive Discussion
Ask the children:
Introduce Adjectives
After they've had a chance to guess and describe, say:
“Fantastic words, everyone! The words you just used help to paint a picture in our minds. These special words are called adjectives! They describe how things look, feel, or even sound.”
“Now, let’s create our own ‘Adjective Adventure’ together! Each of you will get a turn to pick something from our classroom and describe it using fun adjectives. Let’s see how many creative words we can come up with!”
Create a large chart with ‘Adjective Adventure’ at the top and sections for “Colors”, “Sizes”, “Feelings”, etc. This can be added to throughout the lesson.
By starting your lesson this way, you create an engaging and interactive environment that sets the stage for learning about adjectives through exploration and discussion.
