To introduce young learners to basic Spanish greetings and colours through an interactive and engaging approach.
Invite the children to sit in a circle on the carpet. Use a cheerful tone to create an inviting atmosphere.
Example: “¡Hola, Amiguitos! Today, we are going to have a fun time learning some Spanish!”
Show the bell or tambourine to the children. Explain that every time they hear the bell, they will respond with “¡Hola!” in a loud, fun voice.
Example: “When I ring this bell, I want to hear you say ‘¡Hola!’ as loud as you can! Ready? Let’s try it!”
(Ring the bell and encourage the children to shout "¡Hola!")
After practicing the greeting, introduce the colourful scarves. Explain that each colour has a different Spanish word.
Encourage the children to repeat after you with enthusiasm!
After introducing the colours, lead a fun activity where the children can wave their scarves in the air while singing a simple Spanish song about colours.
Example of a Song: (To the tune of “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star”)
Rojo, rojo, brilla ya,
Coge tu pañuelo y a bailar.
Azul y verde, ¡vamos ya!
Amarillo también jugar.
Colores juntos, a cantar,
¡En español, vamos a disfrutar!
Wrap up the beginning of the lesson by gathering everyone’s attention once again. Remind them that they have just started an exciting journey in learning Spanish.
Example: “¡Fabuloso, Amiguitos! You did an amazing job! Now, let’s go on and play some more games in Spanish!”
This cheerful and engaging start to the lesson not only captures the children's interest but also gently introduces them to fundamental Spanish vocabulary in a manner that’s fun and memorable.
