Today, we are going to explore our unique qualities and learn how we can use them to become even better friends, classmates, and people!
Gather Everyone: Have students sit in a circle. Explain that just like superheroes, each of us has special traits or “superpowers” that make us unique and strong.
Mirror, Mirror: If you have a small mirror, pass it around. Each student will have a chance to look at themselves and think about what makes them special.
Superpower Drawing: Distribute the markers or crayons and the large piece of paper. In the center of the paper, write "My Superpower." Then, ask each student to think of one personal quality they like about themselves—this could be being a good friend, being kind, being funny, or even being curious!
Draw & Share: As each student shares their superpower, encourage them to draw a small picture or symbol next to their name. For example, if someone thinks they are good at sharing, they might draw a heart or a handshake.
Create a Superpower Banner: Once everyone has shared, help the class create a “Superpower Banner” that displays all their unique qualities. Hang it in the classroom to celebrate everyone’s specials gifts!
After the activity, facilitate a discussion with these questions:
Remind students that just like superheroes, they have the ability to make a positive impact on those around them with their unique qualities. Encourage them to think about one way they can use their superpower this week, either in the classroom or at home!
Have students write a short paragraph about their superpower and a time they used it to help someone. They can share their paragraph next class!
