Welcome, young explorers! Today, we are setting off on a thrilling adventure to the magical Magic Forest of Numbers, where we'll meet friendly characters who need our help with rounding numbers. Put on your explorer hats and get ready for some fun!

The Quest Begins

Meet the Number Wizards

In the heart of the Magic Forest, there are three Number Wizards: Sir Round-a-Lot, Lady Roundy, and Young Roundy. Each of them has a special ability: they can transform any number into a rounded number! But there’s a challenge - they only work with numbers between 1 and 1,000.

The Call for Help

This morning, the wizards discovered that their magical potions have spilled everywhere! They need our help to round numbers so their potions can return to the correct jars. Each wizard will give us a number, and we must round it carefully to help them out!

Our Mission

  1. Gather Around the Round Table: Let’s sit together in a circle and introduce ourselves. Share your name and your favorite number between 1 and 1,000.

  2. Understanding Rounding: Listen closely as we discuss the magic of rounding! To round a number means to change it to a nearby number that is easier to work with, usually to the nearest ten or hundred.

    • To the nearest ten: If the last digit is 5 or more, we round up! If it’s less than 5, we round down.
    • To the nearest hundred: We look at the tens digit! If it’s 5 or more, we round up; if it’s less than 5, we round down.
