Welcome to the Wonderful World of Poetry!

Introduction: The Magic of Words

Good morning, Class! 🌞 Today, we’re going to dive into the magical world of poetry! But before we get started, let’s take a moment to think about how words can paint pictures in our minds.

Warm-Up Activity: A Poetry Scavenger Hunt

What You’ll Need:

Instructions:

  1. Look Around: For the next five minutes, I want you to look around our classroom or outside (if possible) and find things that inspire you. It could be anything – a colorful drawing, a book, flowers, or even your friend’s smile!

  2. Jot It Down: Write down or draw at least three things that you see that spark your thoughts or feelings.

  3. Share Your Finds: Once everyone has finished, we’ll sit in a circle and share one of the things we’ve written down. As we share, I want you to think about how these things can turn into poems!

Example: If you wrote down “the bright yellow flower,” think about how that flower makes you feel. Does it remind you of sunny days? Does it make you smile?

Transition: From Inspiration to Creation

Great job, everyone! Now that we’ve gathered some wonderful inspirations, it’s time to learn how to weave our thoughts into the beautiful art form of poetry.

We’ll explore different types of poems, including rhymes and free verse, and learn how to express our feelings through words. Let’s get ready to become poets today!

Let’s Begin! ✍️

Are you excited to discover the joy of writing poetry? Let’s turn those everyday moments into magical verses!
