Introduction: A Journey Begins!

Imagine you are an adventurer setting out on an exciting quest across the vast and diverse lands of the United States! Before we embark on this journey together, let's prepare ourselves for what we'll discover along the way.

The Adventure Map

Activity: Create Your Adventure Map

  1. Materials Needed:

    • Large sheets of paper
    • Colored markers or crayons
    • Old magazines or printed pictures of U.S. landmarks and natural wonders
    • Glue or tape

  2. Instructions:

    • Each student will create an “Adventure Map” of the United States!
    • Divide the map into different regions (Northeast, Southeast, Midwest, Southwest, and West).
    • Think about the unique geographical features, landmarks, climate zones, and even the wildlife found in each region.
    • Using markers and colored crayons, illustrate key features of each region on your map.
    • Optional: Cut out pictures from magazines or printed sheets to represent famous sites or natural phenomena (like the Grand Canyon, the Great Lakes, or the Appalachian Mountains) and glue them onto your map.
    • Don’t forget to give your map a title!
