Welcome to Forest School!

Introduction

🌳 Today, we embark on a thrilling adventure into the heart of nature! 🌳
Forest School isn’t just about exploring the woods; it’s about discovering ourselves, learning new skills, and appreciating the great outdoors!

Opening Activity: Nature Scavenger Hunt

Objective

To kick off our Forest School lesson, we’ll start with a fun and engaging nature scavenger hunt. This activity will help us observe our surroundings closely and work collaboratively.

Instructions

  1. Form Teams: Divide the class into small teams of 4-5 students.
  2. Scavenger Hunt List: Each team will receive a list of items to find in the forest area. The list includes:
    • A feather
    • A smooth stone
    • A green leaf
    • A piece of bark
    • A flower (if in season)
    • Animal tracks (if visible)
    • Any interesting insect 🌼🐜
  3. Time Limit: You’ll have 20 minutes to gather as many items from the list as you can. Remember to respect nature—don’t take anything that’s alive or might get damaged.
  4. Share and Discuss: After the hunt, we’ll gather to share what we found and discuss the importance of each item in the ecosystem.

Why a Scavenger Hunt?

This activity fosters teamwork and observation skills! You’ll also start thinking critically about the environment and how each element plays a role in the ecosystem. Plus, it gets you moving and excited for the rest of our Forest School lesson.

What’s Next?

After our scavenger hunt, we’ll dive deeper into how forests thrive, the different types of trees we’ll find, and the vital role they play in our planet’s health. Are you ready to discover the wonders of our woodland surroundings?
