Introduction to Presentations

"Good morning, everyone! Today, we are going to learn about something very special called presentations. Can anyone tell me what they think a presentation is? (Pause for responses) That's right! A presentation is when someone shares information with others. It can be about many different topics—like your favorite toy, a place you've visited, or even an animal you love! Presentations help us share our ideas and story with others, and that's what we will explore today!"

Components of a Presentation

"Now that we know what a presentation is, let’s talk about the important parts of it. A good presentation usually has three main parts: the introduction, the body, and the conclusion. Can you all say that with me? 'Introduction, Body, Conclusion!' (Pause for students to repeat)

Let's break those down:

Does that make sense? (Allow responses) Great! Now, I will write these parts on the whiteboard so we can remember them."

Printable Card Activity

"Now, it’s time for some fun! I have these colorful printable cards for each of you. Each card has a space for you to write down some ideas for a presentation.

First, I want you to think about what topic you might like to present in your groups. It could be about anything you love! Look at the card and fill in your favorite topic at the top. Then, I want you to write down three things you can say about that topic in the body section.

You have 10 minutes to work on this. I will walk around to help if you have any questions. Ready? Go!"

Group Work

"Okay, friends! Now that you all have filled out your cards, it's time to work together in groups. I’m going to split you into groups of five. You can discuss your topics and think about how you want to present them.

Remember, you can use your cards to help you. Share your ideas with each other and practice talking about your topics. If you need help or want to share an idea with the class, raise your hand, and I’ll come over!

Let’s start for 10 minutes. Have fun discussing!"

Presentations Review

"Wonderful job, everyone! Let's take a moment to have a little review of those cards you filled out. I’m going to pick a few of you randomly, and you can show me your cards.

As I look at them, we’ll talk about what parts you included and how clear your ideas are. Remember, this isn't a full presentation yet, but just a way to check your understanding. What do you think went well in your groups? (Encourage students to share their thoughts) Great ideas! Keep that positive energy for when you present later!"

Wrap-Up

"Well done, everyone! Today, we learned all about presentations—their key parts and how to come up with ideas. Before we finish, I want you to remember that practicing is very important! You can think of a simple topic to present at home for our next class.

Before you go, I have some stickers for everyone who participated and helped each other out today! (Hand out stickers)

Remember to practice describing your topic to someone at home. I can’t wait to hear what you have in store for our next class. See you then!"
