Jay and May are pals. They are in a big park. The sun is up. The sky is blue.
"Let us play!" Jay says. May nods. She is glad.
They run to the big tree. The tree has a big, gray trunk. The leaves are green.
"Look at that ant!" May shouts. "It has a big bay."
"Yes!" Jay says with joy. "It is on the way!"
The pals sit on the grass. The grass is wet with dew. They see a red bug. It has four legs.
"That is a nice bug!" May says. "It can run!"
"Can it fly?" Jay asks.
"No, it can’t fly. It can run and hop!"
They watch the bug as it jumps on the grass.
“Can we play tag?” May asks.
“Yes! I will be it!” Jay says.
He runs fast. May is not far. She laughs.
“Jay, you can’t catch me!” she yells.
Jay runs and runs. He jumps!
"Got you!" Jay shouts.
May sits on the grass. "You got me," she says. "Now I will be it!"
May runs. Jay is not slow.
He runs to the tall slide. May runs to the swings.
The pals play on the swings.
"Up high! Up high!" May yells.
Jay goes up. "Look at me!" he says.
May swings back. “I can go high too!”
The wind blows. The swings go high!
Then, they sit and take a sip of bug juice.
"Yum!" says Jay. "What a nice drink!"
"Yes! Let us have a fast snack," says May.
They eat some cake. The cake is sweet!
“Yum, yum!” they sing.
After the snack, they see a gray cat.
"That cat looks sad," says Jay.
"Let us go and say hi!" May says.
They walk slow to the cat.
"Meow!" says the cat.
"What is wrong?" asks May.
The cat has no toy.
“Do you want to play?” asks Jay.
The cat jumps up with joy.
“Yes, yes! I want to play!” the cat purrs.
The pals and the cat run to the grass.
"Let us all play tag!" May says.
The cat can hop! It runs fast.
Jay laughs and runs.
They play till the sky gets dark.
"I had so much fun," Jay says.
“Me too!” May shouts with glee.
The cat stretches and yawns.
“Time to go back home,” says May.
“Goodbye, cat!” Jay and May say.
“Meow! Bye!” says the cat.
Jay and May hold hands.
They walk on the path to their homes.
“What a nice day!” May says.
“Yes! I will see you soon!” Jay replies.
The sun sets. The sky is red.
