Lesson Introduction: Expectations and Kindness

🌟 Welcome to Our Kindness Adventure! 🌟

Hello, wonderful Year 1 friends!

Today, we are going to embark on a Kindness Adventure that will help us learn about expectations and the magic of being kind to one another. Before we jump in, let’s sprinkle our classroom with lots of kindness!

🎈 A Fun Activity to Start

To kick off our lesson, let’s begin with a little game called "The Kindness Spotlight." Here’s how it works:

  1. Gather Around: Everyone, find a comfortable spot in our circle.
  2. Pass the Kindness Ball: I have a soft, squishy ball (you can use any soft object). When I pass the ball to you, I want you to think about a kind thing you can do for someone else.
  3. Take Turns Sharing: When you catch the ball, share your kind idea with the class! It can be something simple, like sharing your toys or helping a classmate pick up something they dropped.
  4. Show Kindness: After sharing your idea, gently pass the ball to a friend beside you.

💖 Why Kindness Matters

As you all share your ideas, we’ll see how kindness helps make our classroom a happy place. Remember, just like a bright rainbow 🌈, kindness brings colour to our lives and helps us feel good inside.

📚 The Connection to Expectations

While we’re sharing our kind ideas, we will also talk about expectations. When we show kindness, we are helping create a safe and friendly space where everyone can learn and play together.

After our game, we’ll dive deeper into understanding what kindness means and explore ways we can set good expectations for ourselves and others.

Are you ready to spread some kindness? Let’s get started! 🌼
