Before we dive in, let’s take a magical tour of some of the colorful coins and bills that make up our Canadian money! Grab your magnifying glasses (or pretend ones), and let’s discover:

  1. Toonie - This is a special coin that has a two-dollar value! It’s called a “toonie” because it’s worth two dollars – get it?
  2. Loonie - The one-dollar coin is called a “loonie” because it has a little bird called a loon on it!
  3. Five-Dollar Bill - It’s not just any bill; it’s bright blue and sometimes you can even see the northern lights on it! 🌌
  4. Ten-Dollar Bill - This bill is a rainbow of colors – can you count how many colors you see?
  5. Twenty-Dollar Bill - It features our amazing Canadian leaders! Can you guess who they are?

🕵️‍♂️ Fun Activity: Money Match-Up!

Now that you’ve met our Canadian money, we’re going to play a game called Money Match-Up! Here’s how it works:

Steps to Play:

  1. Hide & Seek: I'm going to hide pictures of our Canadian money around the classroom.
  2. Search: You will then go on a treasure hunt to find each picture.
  3. Match-Up: Once you find a picture, shout out what it is and how much it’s worth!
  4. Collect: Place your found pictures into the basket!

🎈 Wrap-Up Party!

After we’ve matched our money, we’ll have a little wrap-up party where we can share what we learned. We can even pretend to buy some snacks with our money pictures!
