• A small container or bag filled with various coins (pennies, nickels, dimes, and quarters)
• A timer
• A large poster board or whiteboard

Step 1: The Exciting Coin Discovery

Welcome, mathematicians! Before we begin sorting our coins, I have a special surprise for you. Under your desks, you will find a small bag filled with hidden treasures—coins!

Step 2: The Challenge

Here’s the challenge: You’ll have two minutes to find as many coins as you can from your bag. Remember, you're not just collecting them; you need to keep your eyes out for different types of coins!

Step 3: Share and Sort

After the timer goes off, I want you to form pairs with your classmates. Together, you’ll start sorting your collected coins. You can sort them by type of coin, size, or value.
